It is common to forget your home or office Wi-Fi network password, especially when devices automatically connect in the background for months at a time. Luckily, if you have at least one desktop or mobile device currently connected to the network, your operating system stores the network security key locally. Here is how to locate and reveal your saved Wi-Fi password across all major platforms.

How to Reveal Wi-Fi Password on Windows 10 & 11

On a Windows computer currently connected to the target Wi-Fi network, press the Win + R keys to open the Run command box. Type ncpa.cpl and press Enter to open the Network Connections window. Double-click your active Wi-Fi network adapter icon to open the Status window, click the Wireless Properties button, navigate to the Security tab, and check the box next to Show characters. Your plain-text Wi-Fi password will immediately appear in the Network security key field.

How to View Wi-Fi Password on macOS (MacBook & iMac)

Apple makes viewing saved passwords simple in modern macOS versions. Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner, open System Settings, select Wi-Fi in the left sidebar, scroll down, and click the Advanced button. Locate your target network under the *Known Networks* list, click the three-dot option menu next to it, and select Copy Password. Alternatively, open the built-in Keychain Access app via Spotlight search, search for your Wi-Fi network name, double-click the item, check *Show password*, and enter your administrator password to view it.

How to Find Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on iPhone (iOS 16+)

On iPhones or iPads running iOS 16 or newer, open the Settings app and tap Wi-Fi. Tap the info icon (blue ‘i’) next to your connected network or tap *Edit* in the top-right corner to select a previously saved network. Tap on the hidden Password field (represented by dots). Authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, and the plain-text Wi-Fi password will be revealed with a option to copy it to your clipboard.

How to Share Wi-Fi Password via QR Code on Android

On Android smartphones running Android 10 or later, open the Settings app, select Network & internet, tap Internet, and tap the gear settings icon next to your active Wi-Fi network. Tap the Share button (QR code icon). Confirm your lock screen pattern or fingerprint authentication. A readable QR code will display on-screen with the exact plain-text Wi-Fi password printed directly underneath it for easy sharing.
