Clearing your internet browser’s cache and cookies is one of the most effective troubleshooting steps to resolve slow web page loading speeds, layout rendering errors, outdated form data, and persistent login issues. Web browsers automatically download images, scripts, and tracking files to speed up repeat website visits. However, over time these temporary cached data files can corrupt or clog local storage, creating privacy risks and sluggish performance.

How to Clear Cache in Google Chrome (Desktop & Mobile)

To clear web data in Google Chrome on Windows or Mac, open Chrome and press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete (or Command + Option + E on Mac). Alternatively, click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner, select Delete Browsing Data, and choose your desired time range (such as ‘Last Hour’, ‘All Time’, or ’24 Hours’). Check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then click Delete data. On mobile devices (iOS/Android), open Chrome settings, tap Privacy and Security, select Clear Browsing Data, and confirm your selection.

How to Clear Cache and Cookies in Apple Safari (macOS & iPhone)

For Mac users on desktop Safari, click Safari in the top menu bar, select Settings (or Preferences), navigate to the Privacy tab, and click Manage Website Data. Click Remove All to purge cookies and site storage. To clear history and cache simultaneously, select Safari > Clear History... in the top menu bar, choose ‘All History’, and click Clear. On iPhone or iPad, open the iOS Settings app, scroll down and tap Safari, scroll near the bottom, and tap Clear History and Website Data.

How to Clear Web Data in Microsoft Edge

In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open the Clear Browsing Data dialog directly. Select your time range (recommended: All Time), check the boxes for Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data, and click Clear now. You can also configure Edge to automatically wipe temporary files every time you close your browser window by toggling settings under Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
