You can simply try this straight maybe This will work. I tried this trick and observed that a lot of visible picture quality is there when applied to WhatsApp status.
While uploading a photo( initially high quality) as status, just crop it from any one side of that photo. Cropping from any one side of the photo really worked for me, I hope it works for you.
I have a better solution for this WhatsApp size compression issue. Yes photo quality issue is definitely because WhatsApp compresses your high quality photo to low quality.
So to bypass WhatsApp compression we need to initially compress your high quality photo using a app called panda compressor.
I personally used this compression app and compress my photos and then upload to WhatsApp status. Believe me the quality really improved and the compression from WhatsApp is decreased.
