Before all this and Big Bang, Universe was infinitely small. Everything around us – the stuff that makes up the galaxies, stars, planets, me and everyone was all squished together, creating what is known as a singularity.
Singularity Definition : A point in space-time where the laws of physics as we know them break down.

Before Big Bang theory there are no observational consequences so it is assumed that before big bang existed there was an infinite stretch of an ultra-hot, dense material, persisting in a steady state.
It is also assumed that this was governed by Quantum physics. It is said that big bang is not the beginning of time rather it is considered to be moment of symmetry, which explained a period of contraction to expansion.
This is the summary of what theoretical physicists have said.
