Artificial intelligence excites me but I don’t know anything about it. It’s gaga word in recent times. I want to learn it in details. From where should I start as I don’t even know ABC of artificial intelligence?

If you don’t know anything about artificial intelligence , here are the steps you may follow to learn from scratch:
1) first check basic fundamentals like definition, requirement, applications and future growth
2) check searching in depth including all types of search like breadth first search, death first search, best first search etc
3) then check Basic areas like expert system, artificial neural network, genetic algorithm, ant colony optimization, swarm intelligence, machine learning, fuzzy logic etc with definition and application
4) learn about different areas you explored in step 3 in details with algorithm and programming
5) try programming in artificial intelligence through prolog software
6) try implementation using other advanced technology like metlab, ns 2 etc based on your application
