Here you can compress the image size without effecting the resolution. For example : A 2 mb photo can be reduced to 100 – 500kb.

Resolution and image size works hand in hand. The higher the resolution more is the image size. But as you mentioned your images are of size 2-3 mb then they are of pretty decent resolution (i believe).
You can reduce the image size by toning down the resolution. You don’t need any specific app for this. Here, I’ll list few online websites which will handle your job. You just need to upload the image.

I have a better choice and I hope you all will really love this website,because for all my graphic images compression,I use this website. Tinypng.com which is a free website to reduce the size of your image yet without losing much quality of the image.
You can upload max 20 ages at a time,and size reduction is really good like 80 %,will be deducted for most of the pics.
