While working on the Excel sheet, I found some duplications in the data. I want to compare columns in an Excel sheet. Can anyone please tell me how to compare columns in Excel? How to use VLookUp formula for comparing columns in Excel? Can I compare columns with out Vlookup formula? How to compare two columns in excel for matches and differences? Is it possible to compare 2 Excel sheets? Please suggest me. Thank you

We can compare two columns in excel sheet in many ways as per our requirement using build in features of Excel.
If you want to compare the contents of two columns A and B put in C, use the below if condition:
if(A1=B1,”Match” “No match”)
then copy it down. For example, we have two columns with different company names then comparing column data can be done in this way also:
In the above excel sheet, two column data is compared using simple the reference of cell. i.e., “=A2=B2”, gives TRUE if both column data is same. Other way , is using if condition .It is shown below:
To find the differences between the contents of two columns in Excel, we need to select both columns and follow the below steps:
1.Go to the “home tab”. Click on “Conditional formatting”, High light cell rows in that select duplicate values.
2. Here we can highlight duplicate values showing in the selected area or we can choose the option “unique” which means it shows the values in excel columns which occur only once. The colour can also be selected for easy recognition of unique values.
3.Filter option from home tab can also be used to sort data as per our requirement.
4. Hightlight option can also be removed. For this go to home tab, Again click on conditional formatting and select “clear rules “, click on clear rules from entire sheet. then the data appears how it is at the beginning.
In this way we can compare two columns in excel sheet.
You can also compare the two columns by using Vlookup() formula.
Two excel sheets can also be compared . These two excel sheets can be in same excel work book or in 2 seperate workbooks. Excel has some inbuilt features to compare two sheets and there is also conditional formatting and formula technique. Two excel sheets in different files can be compared by aligning together.
Select “view” option, in that select side by side , then two Excel sheets appear side by side. It looks like this:
I hope the above information may be helpful. Thank you.
