How To Prevent Automatic Windows 10 Updates?

Why does my windows 10 laptop automatically updates in the background? Some updates are getting automatically installed. How do I prevent this?

      As a Windows user I can say that Windows 10 automatic updates are pretty frustrating. It’d sometimes drain the battery power pretty quickly, Take up a lot of RAM and thus makes the user interface pretty slower. But there are ways by which you can fix this issue and Windows won’t update automatically in the background ever again, atleast, without your knowledge 🙂

      METHOD 1: USING SERVICES

      1. Press the key combinations: Windows Key + R, To open Run Command.
      2. Type in : services.msc and hit enter.
      3. Scroll down and select Windows Update. Right click and select Properties.
      4. From the Startup Type drop down menu select “Disabled”.
      5. Click on Stop below it and select OK.

      METHOD 2: USING SETTINGS

      1. Go to your Windows Start menu and click on the Settings cog.
      2. Now, within the Settings page click on Update & Security.
      3. Next, click on the Advanced Options tab.
      4. Then, you can choose a date from the dropdown that you’d like to pause automatic updates to. Note, as of this edit, Windows only allows you to pause updates for about 6 weeks.
